Honored
Back in May, I sent out some sequential work to a call for entries. I don't do comics as much as I would like, but I love the challenge of them and would like for the ones I do make to be seen. I was especially attracted to the idea of this show because it was judged by Dave McKean. McKean's work was a huge reason why I started returning to comic shops. I think my first exposure to him was in the Arkham Asylum book (which I loved), but Violent Cases blew me away when I came across it. Then came Signal to Noise and those astounding Sandman covers that Vertigo published that looked so different from everything else. Not to mention Cages. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to know that McKean had at least placed his eyeballs on my work.
I was especially pleased when I found out that one
of the three comics I submitted was selected for the show.
I was hoping to locate a good connection close to the host, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center
in Pueblo, CO
so that I could ask them to post some photos on this blog. Hopefully I can make it happen. The show has been open since June 9th and continues through September in their Hoag Gallery. Please check it out if you can.
