Watercolor Portraits
I spent a lot of last week framing and, due to an unforeseen hiccup, was reaching points of OCD insanity so I thought I'd counter that with a couple watercolor portraits.
Even though I love figurative work, I have been doing less to challenge myself in terms of the more personal work, but it's always nice to go back. So, in the spirit of the quick animal sketches, I did these. The first based off a photo of our boy I snapped long ago when he had taken to sleeping in his $1 Seuss hat he got for an elementary reading celebration.
The second based on one of three really poor resolution photos I have in my possession of a good friend gone 13 years now. It's meant as a celebration because I still laugh frequently at things he said and did and imagine comments he would have said and smile. Always treasure the folks in your life that make days feel a little bit lighter and, if you lose them, try to turn your focus on how lucky you were to have known them at all.
