AGW day four, post three
Another fun day at Zoo Atlanta
's Art Gone Wild. Loved the conversations and interactions with fellow artists, zoo employees and guests.
Got a head start on a Rinca piece in the morning and fought the rain for a couple of hours to start another painting of one of their beautiful lappet-faced vultures. That's right, I said beautiful. Folks have a tendency to ignore that beauty because they eat dead things, but, if you really look, they have as much majesty as any eagle or hawk that get all the accolades.
Speaking of accolades, it's been great hearing all the positive feedback about my work. However, the real star this week is my wonderful wife, Lisa. She manned the kids, juggled work and started making things for our daughter's early birthday party this weekend (see the cookies) all while dealing with increasing discomfort related to an impending surgery. My wife, you are a superstar. I love you.
Which is why I sadly will not be attending the final day of Art Gone Wild. I will miss this week because despite the headaches that arise traveling to get to the Zoo from our location this week always allows me tons of great conversations and the sense of what it must feel like to be a wholly successful artist. Thanks everyone!
